Something to talk about.
I pen down the every detail of my life.
I pen down the every detail of my life.
Off day today ! Hence that explains the reason I am back to this site. Life has been amazingly great lately, alhamdulillah and I am enjoying my job. I guess passion is everything now.
Okay okay, I’ll cut it all short. Soon.
I was sitting in a garden-themed private room for Gwen’s two-oh-five birthday. Was about to indulge into her very sinful red-velvet chocolate as it gradually melted in my mouth, slided into my throat down into my stomach until the usual question of ” What have you been doing these days ? ” ” When do you start working ? Where ? “ popped in.
Trying to make it a less formal response, I shrouded with a pinch of humour just for the fun of it. ” Tanam anggur “ which figuratively means ” penganggur “ in our terms of usage, commonly used among youngsters nowadays to stir in more of a little kinda sarcasm after being prompted by the same question almost all the time. So there went Emma, a new friend whom I just met today gave us all a spark with new phrases to replace the ” tanam anggur “ part, with ” vineyard entrepreneur ” ! lol ! Naive ones would have taken the answer too seriously and continue bombarding you on the size of the vineyard you’ve owned etc. Well unless you fall into the category of a comedian who would drag the conversation all day long adding more nonsense to the whole topic.
Haha. Not that funny isn’t it ?
Now vineyard entrepreneur is my new autopilot answer to any questions regarding my career in the future.
Back to my main topic.
Today is Gwen’s big 25th birthday ! I really wanna show you her sinful cake, ended myself having a migraine at the end of the day for eating 3 slices of it. I repeat, 3 slices ! Blame my sweet tooth cravings, I digged myself into excessive calories that my work-out can’t even conpensate for.

This is to die for !
Much love,
Anna.
Salam and good morning ( rather, afternoon ) everyone. It’s going to be a long-headed week since CNY is just around the corner, and super honey ponkans are back ! *jumps up and down* I sooo love Mandarin oranges. ( Super honey ponkans sounds cool, huh ? )
Apart from welcoming the leap of the Dragon year, this year’s CNY is rather more special. Why would I say so ? Nahhh, it’s not genuinely because of the new cheongsams I bought for myself ( a big no ). I don’t celebrate CNY per se, but simply because most of my close Chinese friends are heading home this festive season ! All leaving on the jet plane from overboard and this calls for a rendezvous to us. It’s almost the-nearest-to-perfect gathering as most of us are finishing our bachelor degrees this year, deciding to settle ourselves at home to start our careers afresh.
As perplexed as we all are, it is almost impossible for us to assemble and head to the go ever since we left high school.
*******************************************************************************************
On the other note, most people had questioned me on my present. I am still unemployed, ( officially offered but pending and still waiting for the induction call ) and so yeah, that is my status. I honestly have no idea on my placement, yet, although I only applied Kuching as my main choice. *cringed in fear*. Keeping my fingers crossed. Everyone has been telling me to enjoy my break to the max, and that’s what I am doing. *ticked the mini box - DONE !*
So just to fill in my leisure, I would just sip a good glass of a thirst-quencher, with the books I bought from the Big Bad Wolf Book Fare ( currently hitting on Dorothy Koomson’s ), rummage Mom’s old-school cookbooks of her cakes, cookies and other pastries recipes and start mastering to my uttermost potential. Who would have thought Mom used to be a pro in baking ? My Nek Girl is indeed 10/10 for her cooking and baking prowess. But Mom, hello ? HELLO ?
I hardly recall those days when she used to bake us her infamous blueberry and cheese tarts, black-forests, cheese cakes; just to name a few. Her pastries were indeed more than a two-thumbs up. ( I so love her eclairs ! ) I am still a novice in baking cakes, as I am more prone to baking cookies since I was 8.
After a short trip to Melbs, I decided to declutter her treasure box and her favourite hiding spots. I was flabbergasted by all her dusty ( kinda rusty, I’d say ) collections that she used to be flipping back and forth those days ! Her utensils are more than a welcome pang to me, as if they are cheering a big hello to sunshine. Undeniably I would’ve befriended them back then, ( I was pretty unfriendly, grumpy and the big LAZY as I only managed to get home for short holidays, thus, the unwillingness to bake - unlike in my high school days when I used to bake raya cookies every year ).
My new best-friend ? (:
So as a slow start for an amateur, I’ve baked big chocolate chip cookies and Nek Girl’s signature beef pie. First and foremost, let’s glance through the beef pie. ( Pardon me for the poor angles, I am not good in snapping pictures. )

Hot from the oven.

The fillings. I need more adjustments, though.

A slice of it.
For the chocolate chip cookies,

The dough.

Making them in big sizes. The dough is actually made crunchy and it does crumble when you start biting it.

Done for the day. Filled them in a cookie jar.
Pretty messy. Lol. So my next mission ? Stay tuned !
Much love,
Anna.
